A chassis cab is a pickup cab on a bare frame, like the Silverado 3500 HD Chassis Cab. A cutaway is a van front end on a bare frame, like the Express Cutaway, and it is the usual starting point for box and cube bodies you can reach from the cab. Both are designed to have a body added behind the cab.
Cab-to-axle - the distance from the back of the cab to the center of the rear axle - decides which body lengths fit. Regular Cab Silverado chassis cabs come in 60 or 84.5 inches. Choose the body first, then the chassis, and we will confirm the pairing with the body builder before you order.
When the body has hydraulics - a dump hoist, a crane or a heavy liftgate - order the truck with it. A plain service body or flatbed without moving parts doesn't need it.
Chevrolet notes that equipment from independent suppliers is not covered by the GM New Vehicle Limited Warranty, so the body maker - Knapheide, Reading, Unicell, Wabash and so on - covers its own work. Ask us who services that body in the Bangor area before you commit.
